Layer Cake Baby Quilt- Moda Safari Life

Things on the farm have been busy. Our fall calves have been dropping left and right and we have a steer and pigs ready to be processed for our freezer. The full circle of life!

On top of that, it’s fall! so I’ve been spending all of my spare time processing grapes we picked at the vineyard, and apples from the orchard.

When we’re not playing farm were running kids back and forth to school, sports, and friends.

On top of everything, we’re expecting babies galore in our friends and family circle this winter. Which means I get to do lots of quilting!

I have a few big quilt projects started, sitting in my sewing room, so when I have a bit of free time I love to put together these small baby quilts! It takes me about 4 hours from start to finish.

I’m not going to lie I’m an impatient person and love that I get to see the finished product quickly with these adorable baby quilts.

For my Sister-N-Law having her first, I whipped up this small baby quilt using Moda fabrics. Safari Life by Stacy Iest Hsu. Isn’t it adorable?

I used a layer cake, chopping the 10″ squares in half, arranged them into diagonal rows of blue, yellow, then white.

I layered it using warm n natural batting, and just a flannel backing so it would be nice and soft.

I can’t wait to gift this one!
